Course Note# 212: More on teaching with Love

Sunday, December 22, 2013

Happy Sunday Friends!

My forced sabbatical from teaching is continuing into today as health/voice issues preclude me from talking a lot.
In reviewing the FB posts I’ve been prompted to write this week, it’s obvious that Holy Spirit is returning me to really look at the context of my thought this week in regard to love and fear.
I’ve also been prompted to re-read NTI Luke, chapter 9 which is all about how we teach and heal humanity with the thoughts we harbor, not just in words that we say.   WOW!
Here is an except from Luke:

11Give no thought to the future. 12Give no thought to how you are to teach or when or
where. 13Only give thought to listening to Me and practicing as I ask you to practice. 14In
this way, you do teach, and the lesson you teach is heard throughout the world.
(v 7 – 9)1There is fear in your mind. 2And so it will bring doubt that you do as I ask
you to do. 3It will bring doubt that you are the one I ask to do these things. 4Do not listen
to your doubt. 5It is to you that I am speaking. 6You who are reading these words, without
exception for any reason, you are the one.

(v 10 – 17)1You do not understand the power in your mind. 2That power is
unspeakable in your world, for it cannot be described. 3But know this:
4Every thought that you accept
teaches within the mind of man.

5The single mind that you are is taught through the thoughts that you agree to think.
6And this is how you are to teach the world.

7Although I may guide you to speak, it is not through your speaking that you teach.
8Although I may guide you to go or do, it is not through your going or doing that you
teach. 9To speak to those or to go here or to do that would be to limit your teaching to a
few. 10You, who are unlimited within your Self, cannot be limited by restrictions such as
these. 11So it must not be through your speaking or your going or your doing that you
12Every thought that you think is heard literally around the world. 13The
consciousness of man is shaken by your every thought. 14And so it is through thought that
you teach, no matter what you are saying or doing, and no matter where you are.
15And so I say to you again, dear teacher:
16Listen to Me.
17Remember My words,
and practice all that I say.
18The fish that you eat feeds a multitude of men.
You are the Christ, because the Christ of God is within you, and it is Christ
that is your true Self. 2This is the health within. 3This is the Light that shines its healing
rays throughout your mind, shining away all sickness in every form.
4Peace be with you, my brother, for you are the blessed one. 5Put your faith with Me,
focused upon your reality. 6It is this reality we seek to remember.

7Do not be afraid of what must come before you are to remember. 8There is nothing
that can hurt when your mind stays focused with Me. 9I am your constant companion, and
I lead you through all things.

(v 28 – 36)1A vision of Light is within your mind. 2To know this Light, you must only
ask to remember it, for the Light is with you always. 3If you feel afraid or doubtful or
desperate for love, all that you need do is quiet yourself and ask for Light. 4It cannot fail
to appear within your mind at your request. 5It is always there to comfort you and to
shelter you.

6Do not turn away from the Light. 7Do not be afraid that you nag it with your
requests. 8It is there for you, to serve you through your every moment of need.

(v 37 – 45)1You will not be healed by following the ways that make sense to you.
2Following what makes sense to you has brought you to the point of needing healing, and
so it cannot be healing itself.

3To be healed of the thoughts that are foreign, but seem natural to your mind, you
must put your healing in My hands. 4Give yourself over to Me. 5Let go of any resistance
you feel towards this thought. 6Remember that the result of giving yourself to Me is your
own healing. 7You will be returned to your Father, so rejoice! 8The time is now. 9Place
yourself fully and completely in My hands.
(v 46 – 50)1I have asked you to be a teacher of My Word, and I am grateful for your
willingness to teach as I ask. 2And now you must listen to the secret of teaching:
3A teacher is a student who practices all that he teaches, knowing fully that the
message he shares is also for him. 4In this way, anyone may be a teacher of My Word, for
anyone may choose to be the student, and the student is the teacher. 5For the Teacher
comes through the student in order that the student may learn.
(v 51 - 56)1Always remember that as the teacher, you are the student, so all things are
given to you for your learning. 2In this way, see all things as an opportunity to learn and

WOW, I’m surprised I got this much out!   Have a great afternoon! Much Love to my dear FB friends!!

Course Note #211: Love Is Power!

Hello friends, Gift for December 20,
I won’t go into a lot of detail right now but over the last week or so I have felt that I was losing mind-body-Spirit balance and have been feeling sort of melancholy and such.  With all that’s going on with me, that’s to be expected, especially with a new symptom this week: trigeminal neuralgia which causes multiple daily episodes of excruciating pain!   OUCH! however, I am working back toward balance.  I see that my Inner Teacher is leading me back to the basics: watch your thoughts and *see* if thy are speaking of the false or the true.
Once I began to learn about love, (see previous post), I was guided to "send" love to people and to bless with people with love.  Whenever a person’s image or name popped into my mind I would silently bless them with the love of God:
God Is the love with which I bless you (love).
It sounds silly, but it took a few months of practice before I could even do it, and years before I could do it consistently.  It's not that I didn't want to do it, but I'd forget.  Ultimately, I realized that sending thoughts of love was difficult because I had so many blocks in front of my love.  As I began to uncover and heal those blocks, I was able to bless others (and myself) with love.  I silently send love to people on the freeway (usually after I’ve yelled, “You Idiot!”), in the store, or wherever.  Sometimes I still feel silly and wonder if it accomplishes anything.  But I notice that when I do it, I feel peaceful.
After talking about "sending love" in a lecture, a participant said that she had tried this and although she did recognize the absence of ego, she didn't "feel" love.  I reminded her that love is not just a feeling, love is a choice.
When you silently bless others with love, you are not thinking about the bills that have to be paid, or about who did you wrong yesterday; instead, in that moment you are in harmony with the loving energy of the universe.  You are in harmony with God.  This is a powerful practice.
Love Is Power
It's not that God is a loving being, God is love.  Stop.  Close your eyes and say, "God is Love."  Say it again.  And again.  Embrace it.  Love is energy.  Did you feel it?  "Energy" is available power.  Electricity is available power.  But you will not experience the power of electricity until you flip that switch.  Love is available power that you can tap into at any time.  Love is your power.  God = Love = Available Power.  But again, love is a choice.  When you choose to love, you come home to your power.  Not the power to conquer, but the power to heal.
From “A Course in Miracles”

Joy is unlimited, because each shining thought of love extends its being and creates more of itself.  There is no difference anywhere in it, for every thought is like itself.

The light that joins you and your brother shines throughout the universe, and because it joins you and him, so it makes you and him one with your Creator. 2 And in Him is all creation joined. 3 Would you regret you cannot fear alone, when your relationship can also teach the power of love is there, which makes all fear impossible? 4 Do not attempt to keep a little of the ego with this gift. 5 For it was given you to be used, and not obscured. 6 What teaches you that you cannot separate denies the ego. 7 Let truth decide if you and your brother be different or the same, and teach you which is true.

And from “The Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of the New Testament” AKA NTI

1 John, Chapter 4
(v 1 – 3)1Dear child, I have already told you that the work to be done is the sorting of
thoughts. 2This includes the sorting of feelings, beliefs and images.
3Everything that you experience within the dream of the world comes from one of
two sources:
- 4the thinking mind, which is the mask of separation, or
- 5the Holy Spirit, which is the true desire of the Heart.

6Every thought, every feeling, every belief that you seem to live by and every image
that you seem to see or hear speaks the thoughts of one source or the other. 7Your role is
to discern the source of the thought, feeling, belief or image, and then decide if you will
accept what it teaches based upon the source.

(v 4 – 6)1We are of God, and so we have within us the inherent ability to recognize the
Source that comes from God and the source that teaches God is naught. 2You must only
feel, within the presence of your awareness, the message that you are considering now,
and the feeling you know within will tell you which source you are considering now.
3The feelings of peace, acceptance, trust and joy witness to the true desire of the
Heart, for recognition of this desire brings forth the feelings of recognition.

4If a thought, belief or image is not aligned with true desire, the feelings within will
not be the feelings of recognition. 5They will be fearful feelings, such as guilt, hatred and
the feelings of death. 6When these feelings are upon you, you are looking at a source that
is not true. 7You may rejoice in the recognition that, because it is not true, you may
simply lay it aside.

8The Awareness of God looks on nothing that is false,
so all that is false need not be looked on by you.

(v 7 – 12)1Love is all that there is. 2This is a fact you may put your faith in. 3When any
thought does not feel like Love, you may put it aside as false. 4Thoughts that are not Love
are thoughts such as these: lack, limits, competition, victimhood, personhood, strife, and
fighting, sickness, death, rage, and sorrow, helplessness, hopelessness, control and loss.
5These are thoughts that imply separateness, and separateness is illusion. 6So these
thoughts and thoughts that seem like them are not the thoughts of Love. 7They are false
thoughts of illusion.

8God is Love, and Love is everything. 9The thoughts of everything are these:
acceptance, joy, gratitude, peace and welcome.
10There is no resistance in Love, because Love is everything, and everything cannot
be resisted by that which it is.
(v 13 – 16)1God cannot be denied fully, because God is the truth that is the core of
you. 2To deny God is to deny your Self, and this cannot be denied fully, because to deny
it fully would be to deny existence. 3Existence cannot be denied, because it is.
4Look at this, and know your salvation is at hand:
5Existence cannot be denied, because it is.
6This is the truth that sets you free. 7In accepting this thought, which cannot be
denied in any present moment, you accept that God is and you are one with God. 8In this
thought, you accept your Self, and you do it with the joy of recognition!
9Now that you have accepted your Self, follow your Self Home to the full and
complete awareness that is God.
(v 17)1In this way, Love is made complete, not within reality, for in reality Love is
always complete. 2But in this way, Love is made complete within your own awareness,
and when Love is complete within your awareness, there is no awareness that is not

(v 18)1Fear disappears within the awareness of Love, because within the awareness of
Love there is also the knowledge that there can never be anything to fear.
(v 19) 1We Love, because we are Love,
and Love is all that we are capable of.
(v 20 – 21)1To love God is to know God, and to know God is to love all things,
because all things come from God, which is Love. 2To not love is to believe in falsehood.
3This is merely misperception, since all that is is all that is, and all that isn’t, never was.

1 John, Chapter 5
(v 1 – 5)1The symbol of seeing Jesus as the Christ is the same as seeing all brothers as
the Christ, for the seeing that recognizes the Christ is not without, but it is within. 2When
you see the Christ is you, you see the Christ in everyone and everything. 3And when you
see the Christ in anyone, you also see the Christ in you.
4This is what is meant by “transcend” or “overcome” the world. 5It is when you see
the world, and yet you see beyond the world, so that you know what it is that you see and
you are no longer fooled by the images of the world.
(v 6 – 12) 1God has given eternal Life, and this Life is His Son.
2To understand this is to understand everything, and to understand everything is to
love everything.
3There is no judgment when you see through the eyes of God, for through the eyes of
God you see nothing to judge. 4You see only perfection, and you know that the perfection
you see is God.

(v 13 – 15)1In seeing God and in knowing God, confidence is also known. 2For in
seeing God and in knowing God, one knows that he receives only as he has asked. 3In
knowing this, his desire to know anything that is different from this fact is taken away,
because to remember the truth is to want only the truth, and to want only the truth is a
gratitude that desires nothing different than what is.

(v 16, 17)1Sin does not lead to death, because sin is misperception and death is not
real. 2In seeing this, you see God, and in seeing God, you see this.
(v 18 – 20)1We know only that the truth is true, but in knowing this is all Knowledge
given, for there is nothing else to know. 2In seeing this is all Sight given, for there is
nothing else to see. 3And in hearing this is all Hearing given, for there is nothing else to
(v 21)1Do not let your desire rest on knowledge or experience that is not truth. 2Seek
only truth and the truth shall find you. 3This is why I have said, “Knock, and the door shall be opened. Amen.

Course Note #210- Love on Purpose

Gift for December 15, 2013 – Enjoy!

Practice Love on Purpose!

This is from “Love Poems from God” by Daniel Ladinsky, translating ~St John of the Cross ~

“ You might quiet the whole world for a second
                                          if you pray.

And if you love, if you
                                      really love,

                                   our guns will wilt.”

The primary block to love is fear.  Our conflicts stem from an unconscious fear of love.  Ego = Fear = Separation.  When God's Spirit is invited into our relationships, they can be used to reveal our fears and return us home to love.  Holy Spirit = Love = Union.
Feelings of negativity toward anyone, from the clerk in a store to your mate are opportunities to ask for help and healing:
‘Holy Spirit, please help me see this person or situation through your eyes of love rather than mine of judgment and fear.’
Your responsibility is to ask for help.  Your Spirit takes it from there.  Only the loving tutelage of the Inner Teacher can heal you, with God's Spirit as your teacher, all relationships become a classroom where you can learn the lessons of love.  I will be sharing those lessons this month. ;)

.  When you practice love on purpose, you come to the profound realization that you and God, God and your neighbor, are not two, but one.  There is no separation in love.  When you separate from other people, you separate from God's love.  You cannot love alone.  You cannot heal alone.  Love heals you, but it is a collaborative venture.
If you feel that you have not been given enough love, decide today to be a giver of love.  It sounds simple to decide to be a loving person, but of course, we know that it is not.  You don't have to love everyone today.  Instead, each day, decide to love one more human being.  Hold a door open for someone; smile at another, a thank you to someone else… Love need not be complicated.
The ultimate goal of humanity is to love one another.  Your consistent willingness to choose love is the pinnacle of spiritual maturity.  It's the mountaintop.  It's what you are here to learn.  You won't learn how to love overnight.  You're not supposed to.  Learning to love is the task of a lifetime.
God is not looking for perfect people to do his work.  If so, let's face it, he'd have a very small work force.  God needs every one of us.  The love of God can only be extended on this earth through people who become willing to extend it.  Take this idea seriously and you will come to know that love truly is – power.
And so, as you go about your life, recognize that the time to love is now.  If not you, who?  If not now, when?  Each day, become willing to ask and heed the question, "How can I love today?"  Thus, love begins to permeate and embrace your life.

*******Practice love on purpose as if your life depended on it.  It does. *********
Much love to You and yours this holiday season!

Course Note # 209: The LIght that YOU ARE

Happy Holidays Friends!  Gift for December 11, 2013

I was prompted to pull out my 7 steps Journal and read whatever guidance I had received this time last year…. Very interesting.

On 12/5/12: While identified with the ego-imposter self, a show is created just for me; one that is written and directed by my thoughts, beliefs and cravings.  What I think, believe and desire – I see.
            Is this what I want?
                        What do I really want?

On 12/10/12:  I can see how certain challenges in my life are perfect to really learn that I am not this body. Holy Spirit, I am willing to learn right-perception of the body.  WOW!   This really holds one year later after the brain tumor diagnosis!

Lost in the dense forest of the mind, the sun of the Self cannot be seen, thus, bliss is unknown.

With our thoughts, we hold the imposter self in place as we are mostly *thinking* about ourselves as separate from All That Is --  as a vulnerable body in a scary world. The picture that accompanies this post speaks to me so poignantly of the problem we have.   I came across it on the very day that I read a poem by one of my very favorite poets, Hafiz: “My Brilliant Image”:

“I wash I could show you When you are lonely or in darkness the Astonishing Light of your own Being.”

Today may you give a gift to yourself:  Remind yourself frequently as you get caught up on body issues,, bills, holidays, etc. that you can shift your attention from all that, and for a moment place your attention on your Heart – notice the stillness…. This I the Light that you are!   Focus on the Light Baby.

Prompted to another favorite:   Don’t be interested in the words that the mind is serving up for you.  It is putting them there to tempt you into a stream of thoughts that will take you away from the Self.  You have to ignore them all and focus on the light that is shining within you.

Hope your day is as light-filled as YOU ARE!

Course Note # 208 - It is NOT Personal

Happy Holidays --- Gift for  December 9 ~  Enjoy!

The most important Lesson one could learn while reading Facebook  is this:
Everyday I read posts from people insulted, offended, upset for one reason or another by innocuous things.  The people who make us crazy are those who don't do what we want them to do.  Unconsciously, we assign roles to people.  Perhaps you assigned your significant other the role of being constantly loving and supportive.  You may have assigned your children the role of being ideal representations of you.  Your friends,  Facebook friends, co-workers and of course, your parents, are often assigned the impossible role of perfection; as well as being assigned the equally impossible role of appreciating your perfection.
Jean-Paul Sartre said that hell, is other people.  But really, hell is our reaction to other people.  No one is going to change until you do, and while disturbing, it’s true.
We react to other people based not on reality, but on our perceptions of reality.  The people with whom we have conflict are not punishments sent from the universe; rather, we have attracted one another so that we might teach and learn the lessons of love and forgiveness.
A big part of spiritual practice is letting go of our expectations of what others should be for us, and instead asking Spirit Within for a higher interpretation.  As you allow the Inner Presence to return your mind to love, that love will be reflected in your relationships.

            Swim by the hook.
“Swim by the hook is great spiritual wisdom.”  It's about choosing our battles wisely.  When you are in the midst of a battle with another person your view is from the ego’s vision, one of fear.  When ensconced in the conflict, you must become willing to swim by the hook – to rise above the battleground.  You can do this in prayer:
‘Dear God, the temptation to attack another has darkened my mind.  May you lift me up to a higher place so that, together, we may look upon the battleground and see that it is not real.  Only love is real.  Only you O God are real.  Return me to your loving vision.  Thank you.’
We react to other people based not on reality, but on our perceptions of reality.  Most of the time, people who upset us are simply marching to the beat of their own drum, yet we perceive their behavior as being specifically designed to piss us off!  The people with whom we have conflict are not punishments sent from the universe; rather, we have attracted one another so that we might teach and learn the lessons of love and forgiveness.
During this Holiday Season and the ensuing New Year,
let us remember that the only effective change we can make in this world is the change within our own hearts and perceptions.

Let us remember that beneath our gender, race, religion, and the myriad of things that separate and divide human beings, we are all beings of Love.

Let us open our hearts and extend our gifts.
Let us strive to make our work, yea, our very life a gift a service to all whom we encounter.
This is how a life, and a world is transformed.
Much Love!

Course Note# 207: Happy birthay to ME!

This morning I read a post I had written last year on my birthday where I reflected on my “birthday lessons”.  As I did this, I was able to see more clearly what I had learned this past year.

My birthday lesson in the Bible happens to be Hebrews 12:2 and I paraphrase:

Let me fix my eyes on Truth, and look away from all distractions.

This mirrors what I’ve been writing about frequently of late.  I am learning to more consistently use my mind to focus on the truth of my being.  I have been bringing increased awareness to the ways that I allow myself to be distracted from knowing myself as Love created me, like when I get caught up in focusing on my body, illness or the future…

Next I turned to my birthday lesson in NTI Hebrews 12:2:

Follow the beacon of the Heart.  Persevere in its way, letting
go of dreams as the Heart lovingly shines its Light on them.
…Remain focused on the true desire of the Heart,
and listen to it in all things.

Uncanny that this morning as I read this passage in NTI I also read this a few versus later:  “Remember that each circumstance is a gift given by you for your own healing, and you accept each gift graciously within the gratitude with which it was given.”
Wow, I’ve been giving myself some really great birthday gifts of late! LOL

And now I come to my birthday lesson in A Course in Miracles, 336:

Forgiveness lets me know that minds are joined.
The lilies of forgiveness shine into the mind,
and call it to return and look within,
to find what it has vainly sought without.

Yes, I have vainly sought for happiness in the things of this world. I am so thankful to have learned to look for it where it is – within.  With the vision of Love, which is forgiveness, I recognize my union with all living things.

I cannot forget the calendar I’ve had on my desk for twenty-five years, reminding me every December 2nd to:
Do all things with Love.

Recently, when I asked myself, what do I really want? The first answer that came to me was, I want to do all things with Love.

As I rest with my birthday lessons, I find it interesting and amazing how perfectly they mirror my inner work this past year.  I felt to share them with you because no matter what day of the year it is, I recognize them as gifts given to myself and you, reminding us of the way to really Live.

Perhaps this year I will keep these gifts to myself in the forefront of my mind, which should make for some amazing reflections on December 2, 2014.  The docs say I might not be here by then, but I am ready to make some  changes and I am excited to Experience my life one year from today and see what’s new.

Admittedly, with all that is and has been going on, especially the physical changes, I have been feeling a loss of some of my vitality!!!   Feeling sort of melancholy at times…

The time I spend in centering prayer and such helps a lot~!  Holy Spirit pointed out to me last week that I have been ‘thinking’ too much, I wrote about that in the Thanksgiving post, but this week HS pointed out how much I say, and mostly to my husband…  I feel bad that…  I feel  guilty that….   Because now he does so much for me, the dogs, and chores around the house.

He doesn’t mind but it was pointed out that feeling bad and guilty all the time is coming from within.   This is important because ACIM tells us that we focus on the body and outer preoccupations because, while doing that, we don’t pay attention to the false and toxic thoughts in our minds that lead to all kinds of things we don’t want.

Anyway this week I was guided to read several sections in “The Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of the New Testament”  AKA NTI, and each spoke of rest and surrender.  Through Nti 2 John I am being asked to make a deeper commitment to listen ONLY to the Voice of  Love:  And that is Surrender.

“The time has come to listen only to your Holy Spirit. This is what I mean when I
ask you to listen to Me. This is what I mean when I ask you to walk in love.

Listen only to your own Holy Spirit and you look on the world through only the eyes of Love.

To listen only to the Holy Spirit is a decision that you make. It is a
commitment to yourself to no longer listen to or be distracted by the false. It is a promise   truth in every moment and to let every thought that is not of truth go. It is
a commitment to walk in a straight line through the power of your own choice.

This is all I have to say to you now:

****I ask you to take this commitment deep into your heart as a promise to yourself.****

When other voices arise that do not speak of this commitment, dismiss them in peace,
simply because they do not speak of that which you truly want. Remain fully focused on
one goal now. Let nothing distract you from this goal. Have eyes only for truth and ears only for Me. Listen in quiet. I am within you always. I am the Voice that knows who
you are, because I am your true Voice. Amen.”

I AM READY and WILLING to commit Being the  Love that I Am. Then I asked how to practice this and was led to NTI 2 Thessalonians:

Therefore, manage your thoughts in this way:

3As a thought comes up in your attempts to rest, look at it gently with
no attachment to what it says. 4Ask only this question, “Have you come to
me from the Heart?”

5You will feel the answer immediately. 6Do not doubt what you feel.
7It is the Heart that answers this question in judgment.
8When the answer is no, ask the thought to pass by in peace. 9Feel no
resistance to that which you’ve asked to fade away.

10When the Heart answers yes, relax into listening. 11Relax fully, as
you need not question this thought anymore. 12Let your questioning turn to
trust. 13Let listening be the practice of the quiet mind. 14You are listening
to your true Voice, and it is teaching you who you truly are.

(v 16)1Peace is always within you, as I am in you and I am you. 2Rest within the
gentle knowledge of this as you follow the restful work of ridding yourself of the false.
3What you see cannot disturb your peace, because your peace cannot be disturbed. 4So
look within, remembering what it is that you do. 5You have my blessings, as I am joined
with you.

Course Note #206: More on Surrender ;)

Every where I turn these days I am being guided to rest and surrender.
Surrender is about letting go of that which is false and listening and following the voice of Love, Wisdom and Truth.

Surrender to now, the present moment – Which is the Birthplace of Miracles!!  I do this throughout the day with a workbook lesson/prayer from “A course in Miracles”:

Holy Spirit,
This holy instant would I give to You.
Be You in charge. For I would follow You,
Certain that Your direction gives me peace.

And if I need a word to help me, Love will give it to me. 2 If I need a thought, that will wisdom also give.  And if I need but stillness and a tranquil, open mind, these are the gifts I will receive of LOVE. 4 Holy Spirit is in charge by my request. 5 And He will hear and answer me, because He speaks for God my Father and His holy Son.

Here is another one:
You can do much on behalf of your own healing and that of others if, in a situation calling for help, you think of it this way:

I am here only to be truly helpful.
I am here to represent Love That sent me.
I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do, because Love that sent me will direct me.
I am content to be wherever I am, knowing that Love-God-Truth goes there with me.
I will be healed as I let LOVE teach me to heal.
